Louie Cagasan is an Assistant Professor at the Educational Research and Evaluation Area (EDRE), College of Education, University of the Philippines Diliman. He is also a Research Fellow at the Assessment, Curriculum, Technology Research Centre (ACTRC), a joint project between the University of Melbourne and the University of the Philippines (UP) funded by the Australian Government.

He was ACTRC’s project lead for Formative Assessment research (Phase 2 and 3) and he handled the Assessment Professional Development entitled Basic Assessment Competence of Teachers. The training aimed to help teachers have a better understanding that assessment is a continuous process of collecting, interpreting, and using evidence of students’ performance to adjust and improve their teaching. He was involved in other projects of ACTRC such as the Review of the Philippine K-12 Curriculum, International Large Scale Assessment Support, and a longitudinal research study designed to track students’ learning progress across different learning environments.

Louie holds a Master of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of the Philippines-Diliman, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of the Philippines-Diliman Extension Program in Pampanga (UPDEPP). Currently, he is taking his PhD in Educational Research and Evaluation at the College of Education, University of the Philippines Diliman.
