Mother Tongue Based-Multilingual Education Team in Melbourne for Workshop

Dr Romylyn Metila and Lea Pradilla visited the University of Melbourne during August for a week-long writing workshop with Dr Alan Williams. The MTB-MLE team has been working to publish results from Phases 1-3 of the study and plan for future research activities. The team presented findings from the study to members of the Assessment Research Centre. The team was also pleased to meet with Joe Lo Bianco, Professor of Language and Literacy Education at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education, and a renowned global expert in multilingualism. Since 2012 he has been the Research Director of the UNICEF Language and Peacebuilding initiative in Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand. The team shared their findings of the implementation of the MTB-MLE policy in the Philippines and discussed language education policy in the region.
