ACTRC Researchers Respond to Inquirer Article on MTB-MLE

In a letter published by the Inquirer on 8 September 2014, ACTRC researchers Alan Williams, Romylyn Metila and Lea Pradilla  have responded to an article published by the Inquirer on 20 August 2014. The article reported on Phase 1 of the ACTRC research project “Understanding Best Practices in MTB-MLE in the Philippines” in a way that might have led readers to conclude that teachers are being overwhelmed by the challenges of implementing the MTB-MLE program. In fact, as the ACTRC team points out in its letter, the results of Phase 1 indicated that while teachers are facing challenges in implementing MTB-MLE they are responding to these challenges with resourceful and effective strategies. The letter also points out that Phase 1 was a scoping study conducted in a limited number of schools with results to be explored further in Phases 2 and 3 of the research.
