In recognition of her outstanding contribution to the University of the Philippines, ACTRC Curriculum Program Leader Marlene B. Ferido received the 2014 Gawad Chanselor sa Natatanging REPS (Research, Extension, and Professional Staff) Award. This award is given to individuals who have shown great contribution to the growth of the university and exemplary service to the development of the country. Awardees are chosen based on merit of their publications, research work, performance rating for the past three years, and professional training. Having achieved all these criteria, Dr. Ferido’s dedication and commitment to her professional work was cited during the ceremonies held at the Malcolm Hall in UP last February 21, 2014. The Gawad Chanselor Award also honors outstanding members of the faculty, staff, researcher in Filipino, and students.
Currently, Dr. Marlene Ferido leads the Science Inquiry research project of ACTRC which aims to assess learning of students in Science through hands-on and critical thinking skills. She is also a member of the academic group in Chemistry at the National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development where she served as Deputy Director for Administration in the past.
