In collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd) Bureau of Learning Delivery (BLD) and Bureau of Learning Resources (BLR), as well as the UP College of Education, ACTRC conducted an online teachers’ training on basic video production on July 15 to 31, 2020. The training was part of the preparations for DepEd’s shift to distance learning amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
The training had a total of 82 participants composed of 65 teachers from 16 different regions in the country and 17 DepEd personnel from the DepEd Central Office. The training aimed to build the capacity of regional development teams responsible for producing multimedia learning resources (MMLRs) which will be used as part of DepEd’s distance learning broadcast television modality.
The topics included scriptwriting, story conference, video performance, critiquing, evaluation, and inclusivity. Sessions utilized asynchronous and synchronous methods of training. The participants worked as development teams for their respective regions to produce training outputs, including a narrative script and three-minute video.
The training team consisted of education technology professors from the University of the Philippines Diliman – College of Education, Asst. Prof. Elenita N. Que and Asst. Prof. Jon Paul F. Maligalig, as well as ACTRC Director Marie Therese A.P. Bustos and ACTRC Research Officer Katrina Guanio.
